While craft beer gets a lot of attention, craft spirits are also making a huge splash in cocktail glasses across Canada. Great spirits demand careful crafts.

Craft spirits are gaining a strong foothold in Western Canada, with Spirits Canada reporting upwards of 20 new small-distillery openings over the past year, bringing the total to more than 100 in Western Canada.

Although there’s no formal definition of a craft spirit in Canada, most craft distilleries are independently owned and produce spirits in small batches. Following in the footsteps of craft breweries, distilleries are tapping into the locavore movement and the increased consumer desire to understand the origins of products.

Enjoy Craft has identified over 20 regions in Western Canada that have incredible craft distilleries. Each month we go to one region and produce a box with two hard-to-find bottles.
